The Robert Johnson staple. You've heard this by countless others. I think you'll agree, however, that our take on it is unique.
Tom really set the feel of this tune.
Danny Dee wasn't available for the guitar overdub through mix phases of this. After he heard the mix, he weighed in saying he previously thought this song, with all the extended guitar solos, was going to be a disaster -- but once he heard it in its finished form, he was ecstatic with the way it turned out.
Listen and see if you agree.
lyrics
.
I went down to the crossroads, fell down on my knees
I went down to the crossroads, got down on my knees
When I begged for mercy, mercy if you please
I went down to the crossroads, tried to flag a ride
I went down to the crossroads, tried to flag a ride
Nobody seemed to know me, everybody passed me by
Goin' down to Rosedale, take my rider by my side
Goin' down to Rosedale, take my rider by my side
You can still buy a house baby, by the riverside
You can run you can run, tell my friend Willie Brown
You can run you can run, tell my friend Willie Brown
Standin' by the crossroads, I believe I'm sinkin' down
