about

Danny Dee wrote this tune. We messed with it for a while, but it didn't really come to life until Joe took a bass figure Tom had been playing with in another context, rocked it out, and turned it into the main motif that opens the tune.

Lead vocal duties were tried by Danny Dee, DJ, and Joe before ending up in Dave's court. These days, it's DJ's job.

The end of Danny's sax solo is the result of one of those happy accidents that occur from time to time in the studio. I guess he didn't mean to overblow. In the control room, as he finished the take, we were jumping up and down, laughing and hugging. On the talkback, Danny must have misunderstood the commotion. He was adamant that he do it over. Lucky for the song, collectively, we're bigger than he is. We outvoted him. In the end, he saw it our way anyhow.

lyrics

.
I can tell by the way you're movin'
You ain't lookin' for no friend
I can feel your arms all around me
But with you, you know I'll never win
You keep people all around you
So you'll never have to be down
And when you're tired of being lonely
You just take a look around

Chorus:
'Cause there's a lover in every crowd
There's a lover in every crowd

I know you got lots of money
And influential friends
Can't you see my heart keeps breakin'
When I see you runnin' 'round with them
You never worry 'bout tomorrow
You keep livin' for today
Well I'm tired of listenin' to your alibis baby
And livin' with your lyin' ways

Chorus
.
