Every blues album needs a stone blues, 12 bar, I-IV-V thing, dontchathink? This one is ours.
Nothing tricky. Dave wrote the the main lyric. From there somehow we grafted on the dissonant 13th wobble chorus.
We got near the end, and realized it needed something more to complete it. Beth Avedis stepped in by writing and singing another verse. Just what the song needed.
lyrics
.
Well my bus is leavin' tomorrow,
missed my plane yesterday
Well my bus is leavin' me tomorrow,
I missed my plane yesterday
Train got no pool table,
I'll keep movin, anyway
Chorus:
So pack my bags, baby
Pack my bags, yeah
So pack my bags, baby
Pack my bags, yeah
Pack my bags, come on baby
It's gettin' time for another show
Lord I feel like 40 miles of bad road
My body been on spin
Lord I feel like 40 miles of bad road
My body been all spent
I sent my brain on out for an overhaul
Lord I done forgotten where it went
Chorus
Well the highway sings to the horizon
Like a mistress that calls for your soul
The highway sings to the horizon
Like a mistress that calls for your soul
Well say you're bags are packed, and so are mine
Baby this time I'm coming along
Chorus
